International Council Recognizes HSE as Leader in Project 5-100

The Higher School of Economics was recognized as a leader among Project 5-100 universities following a recent session held by the Council on Competitiveness Enhancement of Leading Russian Universities among Global Research and Education Centers. The session took place in Yekaterinburg on October 27-28 and was chaired by Olga Golodets, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia.

HSE Joins U.S. News’ Top-150 Subject Ranking for 2018

Higher School of Economics (HSE) has improved its position in the U.S. News Best Global Universities Ranking for Mathematics, joining the Top-150 universities in this area. In addition, HSE joined the U.S. News Best Global Universities and the Social Sciences and Public Health rankings for the first time ever.

HSE Moves up 10 Positions in QS EECA Ranking

On its 25th anniversary, the Higher School of Economics (HSE) took 25th place in the QS EECA (Emerging Europe & Central Asia) Ranking, thus improving its result by 10 positions as compared with last year. The winners are ‘d notation’, an app that is capable of imputing sheet music and learning music notation on smartphones, tablets and interactive whiteboards (from St. Petersburg), and Dysgraph, an online service that’s used to diagnose and treat dysgraphia in children (from Krasnoyarsk).

HSE Cooperation with FIFA/CIES Expands Geography

On September 22nd, 2017, graduates of the HSE/FIFA/CIES programme in sports management received their degrees. This was the third year of graduates from the programme. Thirty students of the programme studied six modules: sports management, law, marketing and sponsorship, financial management, management of sports venues and competitions, and communications. Over 70 people spoke during the courses, including Andreas Herren, former Director of Communications at FIFA, Jean-Luc Gripond, President of SportVision, a French consulting agency, Pavel Kidisyuk, Vice President of Avangard hockey club, and Mikhail Demin, CEO at NTV Plus.

Faculty of Computer Science Students Take Gold at BPI Challenge 2017

Elizaveta Povalyaeva, Artem Fomenko and Ismail Khamitov, fourth-year students of Software Engineering, took first place in the student category at the BPI Challenge 2017, a business process analysis competition. They presented their solution at the 13th International Workshop on Business Process Intelligence 2017 and are the first students from Russia to participate in the event and win, with the highest-ever number of projects participating in the competition.
